What do you stand for? (Part 2 of 2)

Jul 23, 2020

In my last Rapid Read, I asked you what you stood for, told you what I stood for, and explained how my personal values inspired the five core beliefs of my business. Today I’m digging into what those five core beliefs mean.

1. Anyone can be a leader.

Leadership is deciding to inspire others. It is a skill that can be developed.

Leadership is not an inborn trait for a select few.

Leaders can be extroverted or introverted, confident or nervous, experienced or novices. They can be of any age, gender, socioeconomic status, race, hometown, and more. Importantly, leaders come with every professional title. You don’t have to have a formal title to be a leader.

Take down that stereotypical picture of what a leader is. Put your photo in there instead, and get to work.

2. Everyone can be creative.

You don’t have to be an artist to be creative.

Being creative is about new ideas and thinking differently.

Like leadership, it is a skill that can be fostered and improved.

3. A diverse community is essential.

Essential to growth. Essential to progress. Essential to equity.

Building community is extremely important to me because I thrive when people help people, when I am part of something that is bigger than me.

Building a diverse community is important to me because the best ideas and results come from a variety of perspectives and lived experiences.

4. Purpose fosters growth.

Having a purpose (in your day, your career, your life!) is one of the most valuable gifts that you can give yourself.

Having a deep sense of “why” challenges you to go beyond what you thought was otherwise possible in pursuit of that purpose.

I support purpose-driven, growth-minded leaders, because they are an inspiration. They are the changemakers.

5. Learning is a core aspect of wellness.

Wellness is physical, mental, social, emotional, financial, and other types of health all rolled into one. It requires balance.

As a life-long non-traditional educator, I believe continual learning is essential to achieving that balance, to being your best self. I’ve dedicated myself to helping you get there!

So, what about you? What’s your purpose? What are you actively learning to contribute toward your wellness? Let me know!
