What IKEA, Mark Bittman, and I Have in Common

Retailer IKEA sells furniture with infamously wordless assembly instructions. While they are surprisingly effective, they seem to invite the classic “IKEA hacks.” 

Chef Mark Bittman’s go-to How to Cook Everything cookbook takes a laid back approach to recipes. He empowers the aspiring home cook by showing the basics for countless ingredients and recipes, but he encourages creative riffs at every turn.

Like IKEA and Bittman, I prepare and empower DIYers (Do It Yourselfers). Within the framework that serves as the foundation for my courses, coaching, and consulting, I provide a sufficient amount of details at each stage, balanced by the freedom to experiment.

Rethinking Project Management Frameworks

Traditional project management has its order of operations that is much more science than art. In very technical environments, it should be that way. 

However, an exacting approach is not what purpose-driven leaders, especially those in the education space, want or need right now. 

These leaders need a framework that provides the structure of a guiding hand, while also inviting the kinds of hacks and riffs that result in innovative, breakthrough solutions.
